2019 Morning Program Bios

A.J. Albano – Morning Program Director
A.J. will be returning to RYC for his 16th summer at the club. In his first summer in 2004, AJ was the ‘games instructor’ for the Morning Program before transitioning to Pool Director for the next 8 summers. A.J. always had a desire to return to the Morning Program and he was able to 6 summers ago in 2013 as the Morning Program Director. During the school year, A.J. teaches P.E. at Brien McMahon HS and coaches football at New Canaan HS. Be sure to wave to A.J. every morning in the parking lot on your way in!

Megan Golden – Aquatics Instructor
Megan is thrilled to be returning to RYC for her 13th summer!  Meg began her summers at RYC as a lifeguard with AJ, working her way up to Head Lifeguard and eventually Assistant Pool Manager.  She then transitioned into the role of Junior Program Aquatics Instructor and is about to begin her 6th summer teaching swim lessons to our campers!  During the year, Megan is a 4th grade teacher at Old Greenwich School and has been teaching for five years. In her free time, Megan loves Crossfit, to read, spend time boating, and scuba diving!

Tanya Striffler– Arts & Crafts Cordinator
Tanya joins RYC this year for her second summer and will be heading our Arts & Crafts position. Tanya has worked at Pierce Country Day Camp in Roslyn, NY for over 10 years as a counselor and group leader. She has taught Pre-K in Roslyn, NY and Cos Cob, CT for a total of 8 years. Tanya has recently received her Masters in Elementary Education and spent the last year Interning at Hart Magnet Elementary School. Tanya is very excited to be taking over our Arts & Crafts activities of camp.

Cathy Ferraro - Tadpoles 
You can always find Cathy with our Tadpoles following closely behind with their snack and towel rolled up for swimming! Cathy has been working as a Special Education teacher for Stamford Public Schools for the last 5 years. Previously, she taught preschool in Greenwich. This will be Cathy’s 8th summer at RYC with the tadpoles, and can’t wait to meet our newest campers!

Lea Lumento - Polliwogs I
Lea has worked with children as a pre-school teacher for the past 11 years. She is the co-owner of Sound Beach Day School where she enjoys fostering the growth and development of children ages 2-5 years old. On the weekends, Lea enjoys teaching spin class at The Training Floor in Stamford. This year, Lea begins her 10th year at RYC where she loves spending her days engaged with the children in a fun and beautiful setting.

Krista Longo - Polliwogs II 
Krista’s passion is children! She has two girls of her own, and currently is the  co-owner of Sound Beach Day School. At Sound Beach Day School, she is the lead teacher in the 3-4-year-old classroom. Also, Krista runs a children’s fitness program at CrossFit Affinity. Krista will be starting her 7th year at RYC, where she enjoys working with children to help them grow, explore, and engage in a range of activities.

Amanda Joyal – Minnows I 
Amanda Joyal is also joining RYC for her second summer in our Minnows 1 group. Amanda received her BA in Sociology from Southern Connecticut State University, and her MA in Teaching from Sacred Heart University.  She is currently a Second Grade Teacher and Reading Tutor in Danbury, CT.  Amanda can’t wait to meet her new group and to create a memorable summer camp experience with the children in her group.

Kristina Vaios – Minnows II
Kristina graduated from St. Joseph's University in Philadelphia, PA in '08 with a Bachelors of Science in Business Administration. Following a short stint in shopper marketing, she began attending Fairfield University graduating in '12 with a Master's in Counselor Education. She is also currently completing her administrator's certificate. For the past two years, Kristina has been a School Counselor in Clark House at Greenwich High School. Kristina looks forward to her 5th summer at RYC with Minnows II

Kate McCormack– Flying Fish 
Kate is excited to be returning to RYC for her 3rd summer and heading out on the water with our Flying Fish! Kate graduated from Franklin Pierce University in 2008 and for the last 11 years, she has been a preschool teacher at the New Canaan Nature Center. She is currently pursuing her masters in Early Childhood Education and working at First Presbyterian Nursery School in the fours program. See you on the hobie waves!
