I grew up sailing out of American Yacht Club for a total of nine summers. I sailed and raced Optis for five years, C420s for three years, and Lasers for one year. I attended Rye High School, where I raced C420s in the fall, played squash in the winter, and lacrosse in the spring for 4 years. I was recruited to sail at Georgetown in the class of 2024, so now I compete here in 420s and FJs in the fall and spring! I am currently in the School of Nursing studying to become a nurse. Sailing has been my passion for as long as I can remember, and most of my greatest memories and friendships have been formed out on the water. One of my core sailing memories was the first time I went out on the trapeze in my C420. My skipper and I were in the Great South Bay for a clinic, and it was the first time there was enough breeze for me to try it out. It was such an exciting feeling that I’ll never forget, especially because my coaches were so encouraging and supportive. I hope to give the RYC sailors this same feeling of safety and confidence as they cruise out on the Long Island Sound.
I am super excited for another summer at RYC, and I can’t wait to pass down my love and passion for sailing to the next generation of junior sailors. My goal is to help our sailors develop new skills and reach their own goals throughout the summer – of course while having lots of fun!
